Orluk Oasis

"Have all the fun you want, we'll make more!" -- Fadiilah

What is the Orluk Oasis?

It is a loose association of friends who share a common interest in Middle-Eastern Culture, with a particular emphasis on music, dance, history, garb, and food. Because each of us wish to share our discoveries of the various facets of the culture, we began holding un-official classes at our camp several years ago. This was particularly convenient for us, as that was were we had most of our equipment and materials for the classes, and we were able on many cases to offer hospitallity to our "guests" as they came to share with us. In the evenings, we would gather at the tent we set by the road and create a hafla ("Party") that was open to all who would join us in music, dance, and storytelling.

By popular demand, the classes were made part of the "official" domain, and then the classes tent was moved to another location, away from our direct support and hospitallity. We continue, as before to hold classes at the drop of a fez in our camp, and you can drop by there and enjoy what hospitallity we offer.

Who teaches and camps there?

The people come from many different kingdoms of the Society for Creative Anachronism, and as such, we rarely see each other over the course of a year. Some of those who have camped and taught with us in the past:

Where can I find it?

For the past several years, the Orluk Oasis has been located down by the lake on Roman Road (also know as darb al-rumi in the Arabic tongue) at the Pennsic War. If your trying to find the Pennsic War, contact your local SCA group.

Where can I find more information?
